See the classic tale by Charles Dickens,A Christmas Carol, and its dense cast of characters in a different way. Award winning theatre teacher and classical trained actor, George Younts annually presents a one-man adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in a Goodwill Tour around South Carolina during the Holiday Season.
A family friendly, bare bones production of classic literature it aims to bring theatre to all during the Holidays regardless of location or economic means. It tours to all types of audiences with a focus on where live theatre does not exist on a consistent basis.
It has been seen in many diverse sites with many returning visits: classrooms, lecture halls, malls, churches, hospitals, libraries, retirement communities, low income housing, recreational centers, ballrooms, cafeterias, state & federal prisons, shelters, gymnasiums and theatres.
2008 was the first year it began touring averaging 13 shows anually in its first 8 years. Its 100th performance was on December 13, 2015 and that year ended with a 104-show count. 2016 to 2019, the pace eased up, with 35 shows over four years. Then Covid-19 stopped everything. 2020 was just a Youtube audio recording. In 2021 interest in hosting tours was slow to recover, so a Deaf Theatre Duet with a teaching colleague played for 4 shows in Charleston and Spartanburg. 2022 there was no tour due to family bereavement. 2023 it returned with 7 shows and adding 10 more in the next two years.. 2026 performance sites will be:
Camille Graham SCDC, Estill FCI Camp, Edgefield FCI, Estill FCI, Northwestern HS and one public show at the Old Trolley Theatre in Summerville, SC.
